Can you help me translate this Christmas greeting from English to Albanian (shqip)?
Q. I'm putting this on a christmas card to a very dear Albanian friend. Best translation gets the 10 points. =) Dear [name], Your passion and brilliance has always been an inspiration to me. May you live to 100 and always look 23. Thank you for making my life more interesting. With love, [name]
Asked by Rob B - Tue Dec 15 14:28:37 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If the person is a boy, then "dear" = "i dashur" If the person is a girl, then "dear" = "e dashur" Translation: I/E Dashur (name) Pasioni dhe madheshtia jote kane qene gjithmone nje inspirim per mua. Uroj qe te jetosh edhe 100, por te mbetesh pergjithnje 23. Faleminderit qe e ben jeten time me interesante. Me shume dashuri, (name) Now, you want to be careful with this "Me shume dashuri" because it is too emotional and it might look a little weird if you are a boy and the person is a boy. You might want to say "With respect" -'Me respekt" or "All the best"- "Gjithe te mirat"

Are Albanian Bibles' chapter and verse divisions different from English Bibles?
Q. Russian Bibles have different chapter and verse divisions from English Bibles - e.g. some of the psalms have the title of the psalm as the first verse, which pushes along the rest of the verses by one. How's about with the Albanian Bible? Does it have chapter and verses divisions that are different from those in the (protestant) English Bible? If so, what are the differences? Thanks.

English friend with an Albanian guy - your opinion?
Q. Have you ever married an Albanian guy? If so, how did you meet, why did you marry etc? My friend is seeing an Albanian guy and I don't doubt they love each other but Im concerned as he hasn't yet got his papers. If they married he would get to stay indefinitely. He does love her an he hasn't asked her to marry him but I know she is thinking about it to help his case. What advice would you give if it was your friend. They are totally in love with each other. She isn't wealthy, just a standard working class girl. She has 2 kids from a previous relationship and currently they do not live together but see each other regularly. jj: He has a work permit and a job, somewhere to live etc. He is very generous with my friend and often buys flowers,… [cont.]

How long would it take to learn Spanish?
Q. I have been in the US for about 5 years. I learned English in the first six months which I think is pretty good. I speak two languages, English and Albanian fluently. I even made my own language: X. With that in mind, how long would it take to learn Spanish? Also, can you give me some sources that would help? Possibly, video sources. A. ok look since those other idiots have no idea where to begin, i ll start you off. first of all some people pick it up easier than others, i suggest getting online tudors which can help you get the basics, such as alphabet, pronunciation, articles, masculine and feminine terms, ect. that should be the foundation. once you kind of know what your doing, see if theres maybe someone who knows the language so you can practice with them, if you dont use it you'll forget how to speak it so dont waste your time unless your going to use it often. another factor is dialect different areas of spain for example speak different dialects, if your planning on going to mexico then it will be much different than traditional spanish. if you practice all the… [cont.]

Can someone translate this conversation from Albanian/Serbian?
Q. Yesterday two people say me to come with them, but they keep talking in Albanian or Serbian a little. After that one of them just looked at me and say something in his language, I guess is something referred to me. I was recording the music so I had recorded the conversation too. Can someone write me down (in albanian or in english) this conversation? Here is the link to the file (mp3) Thanks

A. Hmm very smart of you for recording it. They are albanians and one of them (at first) says "we need to finish this thing" meaning to finish this business. (Albanian: dona me e kry kyt punen - this is not proper albanian so you won't find it in dictionaries). I can't really tell because they speak in very low voice and with half words.

What is this cake called? I know the recipe and the name in albanian (revani), but not in english. help?
Q. ok, heres the recipe: 6 eggs, glass and a half of sugar, 250g butter...mix with electric whisk for 20 mins... add 2 glasses of yoghurt, 500g cornflour, 3 tablespoons flour and 1 tbsp baking powder. mix and put in to bake for around 40 mins.. the result is a delicious, light, fluffy, soft cake... it is called 'revani' in albanian (although this may have come from another language)...does anyone know whther this recipe corresponds to a cake made in england? or similar recipe? yeah, weird question, i know please try and help or try the recipe, really delicious cake!

A. It isn't one I am familiar with as it is nothing like the Turkish cake by that name. Revani. There is a recipe here, but it can't be copied and pasted.
