How can I kill the worms in my snail tank without killing the snails?
Q. I have a 10 gal. tank that I use to breed pondsnails to feed my two puffers. Today I noticed these tiny white worms in my snail tank. I know where they came from, my question is- how can I get rid of these worms, without killing my snails? There are microscopic snails in all stages of growth, including eggs. Will these worms kill my snails?

How do I kill the root of an oak tree damaging my foundation without killing the tree?
Q. There is an oak tree damaging my foundation in my backyard and I need to know how to get rid of it without killing the tree. Is there such a way?

A. I agree with Sara, you'd have no choice but to remove the root in question ONLY. You'd have to be able to dig a big enough hole to expose the roots and then have someone cut out ONLY the root that is damaging your foundation. Hopefully that will remove the problem and still not kill the tree.

How can I kill a black widow from a distance without the spider killing spray?
Q. So I'm trying to get in my storage shed and there's two black widows. I am a huge arachnophobia. I don't have a dime to my name and no bug killing agent available. Is there any sort of household products I could use?

A. My foot usually works pretty well, but there are other , more creative methods, one could use to dispatch a man eater like you are up against. Just to name a few, fire comes to mind, as does a nice 12 gauge pump shotgun, electricity will work too. If you like to get up close to your target, a nice sizable brick will also work well in such an endeavor. The one thing to remember is that spiders have lots of babies, so if you take out the Mom, you better make sure to get her kids as well, as they might choose to get revenge on you, if they are left alive.

Would killing people who pose a threat to society be justified if the police wont arrest them?
Q. Hypothetically, someone poses a threat to society and has already killed someone through his reckless actions is released back into society, wouldn't it be justified in killing him because he might harm others again? The police wont arrest him because he hasn't done anything after being released, but does a pose a threat. If people like this were killed rather than spending taxpayer's money on providing food and shelter for them, we would be much safer and these people dont deserve rights.

A. I think many put their live on the lines hundreds of time a year to help others. "Laughter" is correct on the statement too-about what is a federal offense and with whom. Does the average citizen? How many times does the average citizen have to answer a call that involves mobs, drug dealers, domestic, rapist, killers, kidnappers, nuts with guns, speeders who kill and so on... When was the last time you looked at someone who had a gun on you? Ask most policeman it happens often enough. I don't know any who would say never in their time as an officer. Do they deserve perhaps a little more consideration for protecting many and putting themselves out there It is not a matter that they are better than anyone else's life --it is a matter… [cont.]

How to prevent killing grass under downspout?
Q. Is there any way to prevent killing your grass under the downspout. The hard plastic things you put down work great to prevent erosion, but they pretty much instantly zap the grass underneath in a few days time. Not having anything ends up eroding the spot, so any suggestions other the re-directing the downspout every few days?

A. rock it up to resemble a dry stream bed leading from the drain spout down, dig a depression where you would like the water to pool, and plant a native rain garden to soak up all the extra run off. Not only will it provide habitat for native birds and animals, but it also serves to improve water quality through bio-filtration. There are tons of resources on the internet, but i bet your state DNR has some information on what kinds of plants would be best for your region.

Q. I have a garden area in front of my front door entrance that has a tree root of some sort that has grown into the area. A. you have to find away to "restrain" the roots; block their path of groth. This is done all the time in bonsai trees.

How to justify the killing of a small bird?
Q. I have a Red Ryder Carbine 350fps BB gun. I want to try it out on a small bird. I want to know the kinds of birds that are considered pests and for what reasons. I have a religious family and they all say that killing an animal cannot be justified. I want someone to justify this action in anyway they can, so that when or if I do shoot a bird I will not feel so guilty. Quoting something from the bible that will justify would really be appreciated. Thanks.

A. Hunting animals during hunting season, or hunting them as damage inflicting varmints, is one thing. But shooting an animal just to see it die by your hands is another. We hunters hunt for three reasons. 1. The Sportsmanship and Camaraderie 2. To keep the game population under control, so that they don't all starve to death 3. Because they taste good with gravy and mashed potatoes Don't shoot at a bird, or any other animal, just to be shooting at it. You'll either feel rotten about it afterwards, or, you'll feel some kind of sick triumph that you killed something. If the latter is the case, seek professional help before you become another Hannibal Lector. Hope this helps

A. You can approach this annoying problem two ways. You can ask your neigbor to remedy the problem (since it stemmed from them) and ask them to provide a "deep root barrier" to what is considered by most arborists to be an invasive pest plant--yes that is what a Cedar tree is considered to be--OR you can make it your responsibility to remedy the problem. If you decide to make it your problem (which it is since your neighbor's problem has now become yours too), then you will need to dig as far down into the soil (use a sharp shooter) and insert a "deep root barrier" that will prevent the roots from continuing past the owner's property. How do I tell if my loud noise is killing my fish?
Q. I recently bought some fish (5 guppies and a Siamese fighting), and put them in my lounge room. I like to watch movie with loud sound, but got me worried because I know fish die from loud sound. Now, will my fish swim around if it's killing/hurting them? Or will they stay still? Don't want to kill 'em. Thanks, Jebus Pet shop lady said he wouldn't, but we'll see what happens. A. It's hard to know what is too much noise. Start with a quiet room, let them settle down and get used to your presence because even you entering the room can either get them excited for food or nervous for a second. Turn on the music or dvd and you will firstly notice them darting around in a panic, then they'll 'settle' in a hiding spot. If those things happen then it's too loud. As long as youre speakers are not too near or can vibrate through a shared surface then you can get away with adequate volumes, you dont need to remain whisper quiet. just observe your fish regularly and you quickly get to realise whats natural behaviour and what's odd.

Back then the former Soviet Union tried to install nuclear missiles in Cuba. President Kennedy responded by blockading Cuba. I think that the same needs to be done with Muslim countries that fund terrorism. The money that goes to fund terrorism comes for the most part from revenues those countries receive from exporting oil. India has a right to defend itself by blockading the countries that fund terrorism to prevent them from exporting oil. That will dry up the money available for terrorism and will not result in the loss of innocent lives. India can blockade Iran or any other country on its… [cont.]

Can a dog catch diseases from killing feral cats?
Q. The neighbors feed a colony of feral cats. Can my dogs catch diseases, by killing the cats that jump the fence into my backyard? Let's assume there is blood x-fer.

A. Yes. I would strongly suggest calling animal control. Colonies of cats aren't good for lots of reasons: yes, your dog can get sick and/or injured, people can recieve diseases, the native wildlife is threatened, and feral cats pass on FELV to pet cats. Don't let your dog go around those cats and if you see them, don't encourage them to stick around. It's an unfortunate result of irresponsible poeple not fixing their animals. For everyone's benefit, including the cats', you should call someone to take care of the problem (in a humane, hopefully non-lethal way)

What is the most effective way of killing a zombie?
Q. I know that if you're in a rush during the zombiegeddon, you might wanna go with an automatic or a shotgun at the very least, but what if there's just one? What is the proper way of killing a zombie? Is it like vampires, where you should cut off their head and light the body on fire?

A. Well a zombie is a fictional monter. They don't exist in real life but it's fun to watch in movies and read in books.in most movies and books the only way to kill a zombie is to destroy the brain. Return of the Living Dead you had to burn the body to kill a zombie. You should read books to get a real answer to you question. Check out my zombie book review blog.

Would you believe us if we told you it's the office itself that's making you sick? Because that's what the scientists are saying. And if science says it, it must be true.
