Do social services have the rights to put an elderly person in a home without that persons permission?
Q. My elderly grandma as been in hospital 2 weeks & the doctor agreed to let her home. However the family as been arguing over aftercare arrangements & 1 family involved social services. Social services will be placing my grandma in a residential home but she doesnt want to! Are they aloud to do this? What action can we take to stop this?

A. Even if your grandma gave the family member who wants to put her into a home a medical power of attorney, she can revoke that if she is of sound mind. There is a concern about who will provide adequate care for your grandmother when she comes home from the hospital. Depending on her conditions, provisions can be made for home care. Contact your local senior services office to ask what sort of support they can offer. Does someone need to be with your grandmother all the time? If so, can the ones who want to help her stay at home take turns? Social service people in the hospital seem to want to push the elderly into nursing homes right away. A. I recommend visiting scrapbooking forums and posting your services on their sites, if the forum rules allow it. Alternatively, do you have a website? There are many hosting companies that can help you create a website even with average computer experience. Alternatively, have you considered attending your community fairs this spring and summer to have a booth? You might contact your local city government and find out if you can teach a class for free on scrapbooking how-to's for the community rec center. Go to senior centers, church groups, and volunteer to teach them. You'll have a chance to introduce yourself and tastefully tell them you offer these services. What is a suitable services for university students?
Q. I have to present a sales presentation about any services / things that I can offer to my colleagues in their life as a university students. I am thinking about a "Break-Up Services" where you can pay a middle person to tell your gf/bf that you want to break up with him/her.(if u don't have the guts to tell him/her by yourself). What is the pro and cons of this service? Any other service / thing that you all can come up with? Thanx.

A. That sounds like a good idea. You might want to consider a few things: You could make the project completely Internet based. Your service could send out emails in the form of a generic cover letter. The form could state a person's intentions in generic terms and say that a personal message will be coming later. You could also provide a chat room where the jilted could commiserate with each other. It might be different to make the whole process transparent so that everyone who visits your site could see the interchange of ideas and conflicts. In fact, the other users could provide their own ideas about reconciliation or retribution.
