South America (Spanish: América del Sur or Sudamérica; Portuguese: América do Sul; Dutch: Zuid-Amerika; French: Amérique du Sud) is the southern continent of America, situated in the Western and Southern Hemisphere, with a relatively small portion in the Northern Hemisphere. I will be 18 by the time I go, and i look like a "typical american." I don't want to get any country that are very against americans. So does anyone know of central/south american countries that are safe and have low crime rate? Or any that are dangerous that I should stay away from? Any experience? Everyone is very kind and most speak english. There are also many people who have moved there from america and have started hotels, inns, and restaurants. The "ticos" (as they call themselves) love americans and are courteous. I had no bad experiences while going there.
