Venezuela (pronounced /ˌvɛnɨˈzweɪlə/ ( listen); Spanish: [beneˈswela]), officially called the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (Spanish: República Bolivariana de Venezuela), is a tropical country on the northern coast of South America. It is a continental mainland with numerous islands located off its coastline in the Caribbean Sea. The republic is a former Spanish colony that won its independence in 1821. Venezuela borders Guyana to the east, Brazil to the south, and Colombia to the west. Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, St. Lucia, Barbados, Curaçao, Bonaire, Aruba, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Leeward Antilles lie just north, off the Venezuelan coast. Its size is 916,445 square kilometres (353,841 sq mi) with an estimated population of 26,414,816. Its capital is Caracas. The colors of the Venezuelan flag are yellow, blue and red, in that order: the yellow stands for land wealth, the blue for the sea and sky of the country, and the red for the blood shed by the heroes of independence. Venezuela has territorial disputes with Guyana (formerly United Kingdom), largely concerning the Essequibo area, and with Colombia concerning the Gulf of Venezuela. In 1895, after years of diplomatic attempts to solve the border dispute, from Venezuela, the dispute over the Essequibo River border flared up, it was submitted to a "neutral" commission (composed of United Kingdom, United States and Russian representatives and without a direct Venezuelan representative), which in 1899 decided mostly against Venezuela's claim. Venezuela is known widely for its petroleum industry, the environmental diversity of its territory, and its natural features. Venezuela is considered to be among the world's 17 most biodiverse countries, featuring diverse wildlife in a variety of protected habitats. Venezuela is among the most urbanized countries in Latin America; the vast majority of Venezuelans live in the cities of the north, especially in the capital Caracas which is also the largest city. Other major cities include Maracaibo, Valencia, Maracay, Barquisimeto, Merida, Barcelona-Puerto La Cruz and Ciudad Guayana. From Wikipedia under the

Thanks. Asked by Chrysta - Fri Mar 13 16:10:35 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Hugo Chavez is Pres. of Venezuela. He runs the country like a banana republic dictatorship. He just got a law passed that ensures he can serve as long as he wishes, ala Fidel Castro. I have been to Venezuela lately and most of the people are afraid of him. Answered by DC Maximus - Fri Mar 13 16:14:31 2009 What kind of girls do Venezuelan guys normally like? Q. I know everyone has a different taste but for example, in England most guys I know here like tanned, blonde girls who are really superficial. What's it like for Venezuelans? Asked by Me - Wed Feb 3 04:50:21 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. As you say every of us has diferent tastes and the concept beauty is subjective, but i can say from my experience living here that we prefer girls that likes to take care of themselves, tanned or not it doesnt really matter for us, but has to be feminine, the look for a girl is very important in venezuelan culture, if you come here you will see beauty saloons, boutiques and shop for girl stuff in eery corner and beauty pageants are very followed by the people. Answered by Drcacri - Wed Feb 3 14:28:15 2010 Isn't it great to see that the Venezuelan people have given President Chavez a mandate to continue in office?
Q. It seems that the only people who weren't in favour of this were the bourgeoisie who officiated as part of the corrupt plutocracy that was old Venezuela. Chavez has proven that a socialist democracy benefiting the socio-economically underprivileged is not just an admirable possibility but a glorious reality. Viva Chavez! Viva Obama! Ray: This question is about hugo chavez, not Fidel Castro. And read up on your history. Castro turned to Russia and to Marxism because that fine upstanding man called Richard Nixon told President Eisenhower to have nothing to do with him. Whatever happened to Richard Nixon? Oh I remember, he became a CROOK, a CHEAT and a LIAR. Asked by Shea - Mon Feb 16 17:04:23 2009 - - 25 Answers - 0 Comments A. The election of Hugo Chavez has acted as an inspiration to many oppressed people around the world. The US authorities, and the whole of Western capitalism, hate him because his government puts people first. A government that actually focuses on the well being of the majority intead of the greed of the minority is a dangerous concept. It inspires people to protest and make demands of our representatives in other country's. Also, Venezuela is a democracy and the people have chosen Chavez in a democratic fashion. No doubt the CIA will use dirty tricks to undermine his government, or use terrorist organisations like the Contra were used against Nicaragua. Incidentally, Castro was a social democrat at the time of the Cuban revolution, he… [cont.] Answered by Wolfie - Mon Feb 16 20:46:39 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "venezuelan" Skeleton of Venezuelan revolutionary Bolivar exhumed - CNN International
